YOUR GAS PRICES COULD BE “FIXED”

Either the gas prices in America have hit you in some shape or form or you’re living on another planet. I know we’ve been lagging on the posts for a while, truth is we’ve been busy and neglecting the blog space, so I figured I would touch on something that is taking the nation by storm…..Bicycles, all shapes and forms.
A lot more people including myself and a few others around here have been riding our bikes more and more these days. Bikes are great transportation (the most efficient form with the human body) and just plain fun. Now I know the “fixie” or “fixed gear” bike scene is nothing new. If fact it has been around since the turn of the century, and have had a large presence big in cities like NYC, and SF for a long time now. In SOCAL it has definitely caught on fast, I’ve even built myself one to roll around town on to go to the local bar or market, along with my road bike which I won’t leave outside. I thought i would give all of you new “fixie” riders out there some knowledge about the sport and who pioneered it….the biggest name in cycling history’s name is Eddy Merckx, he didn’t come on till the mid 60’s, but when he did he broke about every record held and still holds some till this day, on heavy steel frame bikes minus the technology we have now. In the early 1900’s these guys were making about $150K a year, that’s a straight up fortune for that time, and from what I’ve heard they were the worlds elite athletes and were treated like royalty. Eddy Merckx held the hour record riding a fixed gear bike on a velodrome track from 1972 till 1984, he has the most victories of all time and deserves his respect. So for all you fix gear heads out there here’s a little history, Eddy Merckx is the man.
